What is a Lessons Learned Community of Interest? A Lessons Learned (LL) Community of Interest (COI) is a specific website on the NATO Lessons Learned Portal (NLLP) designed to facilitate the sharing of Lessons Learned related information and the interaction of the NLLP members with a common interest on a specific subject within a specific area of expertise.What are the Terms of Reference for the Lessons Learned Community of Interest Areas? The creation and administration of Lessons Learned Community of Interest Areas is regulated by the "Procedure to access the NATO Lessons Learned Portal", dated 05 February 2019, available in the NLLP Library.What is the procedure to request the creation of a new LLCOI Area? The LLCOI Area can be created based on a real need identified by one or several organizations. One of them will necessarily act as the Sponsoring Organization for the LLCOI Area and should submit the Application Form to the JALLC. Prior coordination between the nominated LL COI Administrator and the JALLC is encouraged before actually sending the "Application Form".What could a LL COI Area offer and who can access it? The LLCOI Area could provide, inter alia: access to a dedicated Library where Lessons Learned related information can be published by the Administrator; documents search functionality; a place to announce latest COI released news/events; links to other websites; other optional elements aimed to fit the specific COI needs. The LLCOI Area or part(s) of it can be made accessible to all NLLP Users or only to those authorized by the Administrator (i.e. COI Members), in accordance with the COI internal regulations.Who is responsible for LLCOI Area administration? The Sponsoring Organization is responsible for the overall content and administration of the LLCOI Area. For that purpose, a LLCOI Administrator is nominated through the Application Form. The nominated Administrator can be afterwards changed by the respective Sponsoring Organization, in which case the latter should inform the JALLC in order to assign the required rights to the new Administrator.Who is responsible for training the LLCOI Administrator?
If training of a CoI Administrator is required, the sponsoring organization is responsible for this training. How much time does it take to create a LLCOI Area? The required time to develop, create and publish the LLCOI Area on the NLLP depends on the timely coordination between the nominated Administrator and the JALLC and varies from weeks to months.What if the LLCOI Area becomes obsolete? In case that the LLCOI Area becomes obsolete, the Sponsoring Organization should contact the JALLC to request it is archived. CBRN LL COI
The purpose of the CBRN LL COI is to be the focal point for sharing and discussing all CBRN lessons learned related information. Sharing information within the LL COI is crucial in order to successfully supports all steps of LL process and in order to improve NATO CBRN Defence.
NATO C-IED LL COI
Based on "Attack the Networks: Counter lED Action Plan Revision 1" and JALLC Attack the Networks Study, HQ SACT was tasked to "establish C-IED COE as an out of theatre co-ordinator of C-IED Lessons Learned". In support of this, a specific area dedicated to this Community of Interest was created in the NATO Lessons Learned Portal.
NATO GEOSPATIAL LL COI
NATO GEOSPATIAL LL COI brings together national representatives with different expertise and experience, as well as specialist from NATO bodies/entities.
SECURITY FORCE ASSISTANCE (SFA) LL COI
SFA LL COI is a web page where the users can share all documents, exchange information and insights concerning the Security Force Assistance domain.
NATO MODELLING AND SIMULATION (M&S) LL COI
NATO M&S LL COI is the specific area of the NLLP designed to promote and support the information and knowledge sharing among users of M&S applications from NATO Commands and Agencies, NATO and partner Nations and International Organizations.
MILITARY POLICE (MP) LL COI
The MP LL COI is a unique place for sharing collected lessons, knowledge and experience related to specific MP-oriented matters for the benefit of the whole community and improvement of existing MP capabilities.
NATO PERSONNEL RECOVERY (PR) LL COI
The aim of the PR LL COI is to collect and to share LI, LL, Best Practices and news related to PR exercises, courses and operations.
ENHANCED FORCE PRESENCE (eFP) LL COI
The eFP LL COI is the central hub for all observations, lessons and best practices related to the deployment, rotation, and operation of NATO Battle Groups in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland.
AMPHIBIOUS OPERATIONS (AMPHIBOPS) WG LL COI
This LL Community of Interest is specifically designed for the Amphibious Working Group for the collection and sharing of Lessons Learned on Amphibious Operations.
NATO CIMIC LL COI
The NATO CIMIC LL COI covers all LL related issues IRT CMI/CIMIC from NCS&NFS, the tactical CMI/CIMIC units and civil entities IOT create a single sharing and dissemination point for CMI/CIMIC topics.
NATO CYBER DEFENCE LL COI
NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence (NATO CCDCOE) will support the effort via this LL COI website in order to assist NATO garner specific LL that support NATO's three core tasks.

MILITARY MEDICINE (MILMED) LL COI
The goal of the MILMED LL COI is to be the focal point for sharing all medical Lessons Learned related experiences and knowledge; as well as provide a forum for interested SMEs to discuss specific topics.
STABILITY POLICING (SP) LL COI
The added value of SP resides in contributing to enable the Alliance to have an holistic approach to crisis response. The added value for the NATO Force Commander resides in having the availability of military forces with a special capability of civil policing.
NATO STRATCOM LL COI
The purpose of the COI is to be the focal point for sharing and discussing all StratCom lessons learned related information. Sharing information within the COI is crucial in order to successfully supports all steps of LL process and in order to improve NATO Strategic Communications.
