JALLC organized and conducted another LNMC
The JALLC has published the second of three NATO Lessons Learned (LL) Portal (NLLP) Analysis Newsletters of 2024, covering NLLP submissions and staffing activity over 01 May – 31 August 2024 period. The newsletter aims to facilitate the exploitation of the valuable LL information contained within the NLLP by all NATO staff to ensure NATO continues to be a learning organization, and inform LL stakeholders on the status of lessons progressing through the NATO LL Process within the NLLP to help them to understand if intervention is needed to facilitate/accelerate the process.

NLLC24 was organized in Lisbon on 16 and 17 April, with a pre-conference day and a post-conference day on 15 and 18 April, respectively
This year, the JALLC will once again host the NATO Lessons Learned Conference (NLLC24) on behalf of SACT from 16-17 April.

From 21 to 23 November, the JALLC held the second iteration of the Local NATO Lessons Learned Portal (NLLP) Manager Course at the NCI Academy facilities in Oeiras, Portugal.
From 18 to 19 April 2023, the JALLC hosted the NATO LL Portal (NLLP) Workshop 2023, whose aim was to collect inputs from NLLP Users for the new NLLP Improvement Plan for the next year. The sessions were held online, although some users visited JALLC and physically joined the discussions along with the briefers, LLMD representatives from the NLLP Team and Active Content Management Team.

The JALLC has sent out the calling letter and opened registration for the NATO Lessons Learned Conference 2021 (NLLC21), which will be hosted online for the first time! We encourage leaders, experts, and practitioners from the NATO and other Lessons Learned (LL) communities to register for this important virtual event on 16-18 March. This year's conference, is open to NATO, Allies, and Partners and will explore NATO's ability to adapt and learn from the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic with three days full of interesting presentations and discussions.
We are pleased to start the first day with opening remarks from HQ SACT and a key note address by the NATO Deputy Secretary General, HE Mircea GEOANA. His remarks will be followed by other speaker sessions and a panel with several LL leaders and experts on “National Perspectives on LL Capability adaptation during the COVID-19 crisis."
The following day will bring together speakers from Partner Nations, the European Union Military Staff, NATO Command Structure (NCS), and NATO Force Structure (NFS). Their presentations and discussions will provide insights on three important topics: Partner Perspectives on LL Capability adaptation during the COVID-19 crisis, LL Deliverables during the COVID-19 crisis, and Innovating in the LL Capability to face future similar crisis.
The last day will have four simultaneous breakout sessions involving exciting discussions on Standardization in LL, Improvement and Innovation in LL, Collection and Exploitation of LL in Exercises, and Future Leaders' Perspectives on the LL Capability. Participants will have the opportunity to select the session they would like to join in the Registration Form.

After the team processes your registration request, you will receive an email with the invitation to join the NLLC21 Conference Platform (hosted on Attendify) and additional instructions.

The NLLC21 Conference Platform (Attendify) will be as interactive as possible, allowing all participants to be a part of the event with features that allow them to contribute their thoughts and share their ideas prior, during, and after the Conference. Audience members will become key contributors to the daily events as we learn together throughout the Conference.

The JALLC is excited to announce that the next NATO Lessons Learned Conference will be held virtually from 16-18 March 2021. During the three-day online event, representatives from NATO Allies, Partners, academia, and industry will present and discuss their experiences with the Lessons Learned Capability in the past year of COVID-19 crisis, through a series of presentations and panel discussions with the theme, "NATO Lessons Learned in a global crisis: what did we learn and how can we do better?"
As always, the NATO Lessons Learned Conference intends to foster vivid discussion and learning to encourage the continuous transformation of the Alliance. We invite the entire NATO Community to attend and contribute to the many discussions during the Conference by using the online Conference platform. The International Conference on the topic “The Hybrid War Decade: Lessons Learned to Move Forward Successfully” took place, from 07 to 08 November 2018.
Hosted by the Joint Analysis and Lessons Learned Centre (JALLC), the NATO Lessons Learned Conference 2018 (Conference) was held on 20 – 22 March 2018 in Oeiras, Portugal at the Lagoas Park Hotel Congress Facilities.
The Bi-SC NATO Lessons Learned Conference 2018 (NLLC 18), hosted by the Joint Analysis and Lessons Learned Centre (JALLC), will be held on 20 – 22 March 2018 in Lisbon, Portugal.
The 13th NATO Lessons Learned Conference was held from 29 to 30 November 2016 in Amadora, Portugal.

On 18 – 22 April 2016, the NATO Military Police Centre of Excellence (NATO MP COE) held a pilot Military Police Lessons Learned Staff Officer Course (MPLLSOC).
The 3rd Annual Tactical Lessons Learned Forum on ”Detention Operations” organized by the NATO MP COE is planned to take place on the NATO MP COE premises in Bydgoszcz, Poland on 09-13 May 2016.
HQ SACT Innovation Doctrine & Lessons Learned Branch has conducted the NATO LL Working Group Workshop from 8 to 9 March at HCOE in Oradea, Romania.
Later on, the connected COE LL workshop has been conducted from 10 to 11 March, attended not only by COE representatives.
The NATO Lessons Learned Conference was a successfull event with many take aways. The 1st Military Police Close Protection Workshop will be hosted by NATO MP COE in Bydgoszcz, Poland, in the period of 11-13 April 2016. The NATO MP COE is kindly requesting the MP community to support the workshop by delegating representatives with adequate level of experience and knowledge regarding the workshop subject.
It is the second time the NATO MP COE has organized and hosted the Military Police Lessons Learned Conference which was held on 07 - 09 December 2015. This year’s topic concerned “Road to the Future MP Capabilities development through experience from recent deployments” which constitutes one of core drivers to significantly contribute to the adherence to the NATO Strategic Concept.
From 10 to 12 November 2015 JALLC successfully hosted the 12th NATO Lessons Learned Conference, held at the Portuguese Military Academy in Amadora, Portugal. This year’s Conference theme was ”Closing the loop: The lessons learned capability in support of NATO transformation”.
On 12th November 2015, HQ SACT conducted the third COE-NATO LL Meeting, in Lisbon, PORTUGAL. The event used the synergy of the NATO Lessons Learned Conference 2015 that had been successfully concluded right before the meeting started.
Following the last COE-NATO Lessons Learned Workshop, HQ SACT will conduct the third COE-NATO LL meeting, in Lisbon, PORTUGAL, on 12th November 2015. The event uses the synergy of the NATO Lessons Learned Conference 2015 and will be held upon its completion, at the Military Academy from 1430 to 1700 local time. For three days, 06th - 08th October 2015, HQ SACT Innovation Doctrine & Lessons Learned Branch conducted the NATO LL Portal Workshop (WS) at JALLC in Lisbon, Portugal. The WS, with a wide representation from LL WG members and COE administrators, was equally interesting and challenging. The outcome of presentations and subsequent discussions will be captured in Minutes that will be made available to the participants soon.
Training of Lessons Learned Staff Officers (LLSOs) and Lessons Learned Officers of Primary Responsibility (LLOPRs) is an extremely important aspect of NATO’s Lessons Learned Capability. However, in March 2014, following several LLOPR training events, it was noted that availability and suitability of NATO’s LL training in place was not adequate to meet the needs for LLOPRs.
On 12 – 15 May 2015, the 2nd edition of the Annual NATO MP COE Tactical Lessons Learned Forum (ATLLF) was accomplished at the NATO Military Police Centre of Excellence (NATO MP COE).

From 2 to 3 February 2015, a Lessons Learned Training event has taken place at Camp Butmir in Sarajevo. This event was attended by 25 officers from NATO HQ Sarajevo, BiH AF and EUFOR staff. This successful event was supported by the JATT.
The 1st NATO Military Police Lessons Learned Conference (NATO MP LLC) was held in the NATO MP COE from 10 to 12 December 2014. The main aim of this Meeting was to enhance MP LL Community of Interest (MP LL COI) and promulgate MP LL Capability Team (MP LL CT).
More than 250 participants from NCS, NFS, COEs, member and partner nations as well as from EUMS and ICRC were updated on current lessons learned situation, benefiting of valuable presentations delivered by distinguished speakers.

C-IED CoE is very happy to announce that the NATO C-IED Community of Interest (COI) in the NATO LL Portal portal now are up and running. The purpose of the portal is to be the one stop shop for sharing all C-IED lessons learned related information such as lessons learned, lessons indented, reports, manuals, TTPs, doctrines, training and exercises, best practices etc. Sharing information within the COI is central in order to successfully Attack the Networks and Defeat the devices and Prepare our Forces against current and future threats.
Between 12-13 August 2014, Colonel Eduard SIMION - Director of the HUMINT Centre of Excellence visited Joint Analysis and Lessons Learned Centre in Lisbon. An important topic on the agenda was the sharing of the lessons learned and best practices where the parties agreed on the positive impact of developing a HUMINT Community of Interest in the NATO Lessons Learned Portal.
Following the NATO Lessons Learned Working Group and COEs Workshop held in Lisbon 8-11 April 2014, the participants agreed with the ACT and JALLC proposal related to a new approach to the Communities of Interest. As a result, several new Communities will be hosted in a dedicated area of the NATO LL Portal.
